Alcohol Abuse and Liver Disease

Since ancient Grecian times, alcohol has been known to cause liver disease. Yet, well into the Modern Age, the United States, China, Nigeria, and other countries throughout the world continue to witness an increase in alcohol consumption and associated deaths. In the United States, alcoholism affects 1 in 3 families, and accounts for nearly 50% of liver-related deaths. Despite this pervasive encroachment into societal health, our medical community has yet to implement an effective offense.
