We are excited to introduce our next American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) Institute President, Barbara H. Jung, MD, AGAF. We were both among her mentors from earlier in her sterling academic career. Barbara becomes the 118th President of the AGA and the organization’s 4th woman leader, following in the historic footsteps of Sarah Jordan (1942–1943 and 1943–1944), Gail Hecht (2009–2010), and Sheila Crowe (2017–2018). We know she will be an exceptional leader. At a time of transformational change in the AGA Governing Board, challenges for gastroenterology and hepatology practice nationally, and with exciting opportunities for community engagement, Barbara is the right leader at the right time for our organization.
