P157 REPLICATING THE PATIENT’S APPROACH: A SEARCH FOR MEDICAL FOODS IN IBD

Inflammatory Bowel Disease is a group of chronic and relapsing diseases that can be associated with poor nutrient absorption. Despite the rise in biologics, there are patients unable to maintain remission. Hence there is a rising interest for medical foods- defined by the FDA as a food product used for the dietary management of a disease under medical supervision. Given that physician awareness of medical foods remains uncertain, patients are turning to internet-based search engines for information.
