Endoscopy Examination Time: Longer Is Really Better?

I read with interest the article by Park et al1 regarding the observation time of esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) examination. In this retrospective study, the authors showed that slow endoscopists could detect neoplasms in 0.28% of patients as compared with only 0.20% of patients detected by fast endoscopists. They, thus, suggested that examination time is a useful indicator of quality for EGD. Although interesting, a few points need further clarification.
