The Elevation of Hepatic Venous Pressure Gradient After Sustained Virologic Response in Hepatitis C Virus-Related Cirrhosis

I read with interest the article by Lens et al1 regarding the use of all-oral antiviral therapy on the effects of hepatic venous pressure gradient (HVPG) in patients with hepatitis C virus infection. I would like to congratulate Dr Lens and his collaborates for their remarkable and excellent work to investigate the impact of antiviral therapy on systemic hemodynamics in cirrhotic patients with clinical significant portal hypertension. The authors showed that the HVPG after therapy was significantly reduced as compared with baseline data before treatment.
