Decrease in the Inappropriate Use of Acid Suppression Therapy in the Geriatric Age Group by Educational Intervention

Inappropriate use of acid suppression therapy may lead to unnecessary harms, especially in the geriatric population. Despite this, acid suppression therapy remains one of the most commonly prescribed medications in the hospital. Therefore, we aimed to assess the prevalence of acid suppression therapy in a geriatric inpatient population and to create an educational intervention to improve the appropriateness of inpatient acid suppression therapy in this population.
