After watching Ray Kurzweil’s video on singularity, I had no doubt that at some point our intelligence will be so high that we will be able to take objects such as a rock and make them useful technologically, but I don’t believe that a rock will be a trillion times more powerful than human brains some day. In order for this to happen the acceleration of advancement in technologically will have to be increased exponentially and this does take time. Kurzweil suggests that by the end of the 22nd century we will be at this point. that is almost 200 years but in that time many things could happen. If we continue to make advancements in the AI sector of technology as rapidly as we are, humans may not be in control anymore at some point and this could lead to catastrophic results (Terminator). Also using Ghost in the Shell as an example, the human exercise of free will is what makes the Puppet Master so powerful within the different AI bodies. What makes technology so powerful is the human component within it and if this human influence is lost in the future, I do not believe that we will be able to connect the entire universe via wormholes with nanobots. Also the vastness of the universe thwarts my belief in this wormhole theory because it goes on for a infinite amount of time and space is infinite. We do not even know what lies beyond a certain point and without this knowledge as well, how can we ever reach a point which we are unaware of?
