The genetic modification of animals is nothing new…in fact we have been doing this as humans since the beginning of our evolution – domesticating wolves into dogs for our own benefit. While we weren’t specifically splicing genes in labs back then, we were altering the evolution of a species in order to benefit us. The same can be said about other animal today — sheep who have been altered to provide more wool, or cows with more milk and chicken with more meat. To me, there shouldn’t be much an ethical debate over this particularly because either way we are going to use these animals, so why not get the most out of it? We3 displays a different kind of genetic altering — one that serves no real beneficial or humanitarian purpose. This is the kind of modification I do not agree with — modification just for the sake of experimentation. That is when things can go wrong, as We3 shows us when they attempt to escape the lab. As long as there are beneficial reasons for it, I see no problem with he modification of animals to better humanity.
