The first thing I thought of when the word “hyperreal” came about was hyperrealistic art. Hyperrealistic art is meant to be paintings, drawings, or sculptures that appear as close to realism as possible, in a way that it is difficult to distinguish the art from a photograph.<\/p>\n

Another form I thought of was reality television shows. While they are dubbed as “reality,” it is common knowledge that realit TV reflects an idealistic vision that everyone’s lives are filled with some level of drama. For example, many shows on MTV are supposedly grounded in reality, but are obviously staged or scripted, such as the appropriately named “The Real World.”<\/p>\n
