It is likewise informed and inspired by current and emerging practices in French and Francophone Studies which combine interdisciplinary study of visual cultural with analyses of literary texts. The relationship(s) between the diverse visual and literary representations of the Korean peninsula are at the heart of my work, particularly in terms of the ways in which these representations foster, counter, or otherwise engage with contemporary discursive trends.
