Nashville has a reputation for music, entertainment and songwriting. This has earned the city its nick name “Music City<\/a>“. However, even before music became center-stage, Nashville became known as the “Athens of the South<\/a>” for its numerous institutions of higher education.<\/p>\n

Vanderbilt University<\/a> is the most famous of these institutions but it has outstanding company with Belmont University, Fisk University, Lipscomb University, Meharry Medical College and 12 additional institutions.<\/p>\n
