Control of the NP-Media Interface

Solvation forces and the structure of the solvation shell around NPs are key factors controlling the NP-NP and NP-proteins interactions in biological media. Our aim is to extend our understanding of solvent mediated forces between NPs through the systematic study of hydration shell: its size, the structure and arrangement of solvent molecules within and its manifestation on interaction potential. This work has important implications in catalysis, drug delivery, enhanced oil recovery, anti-fouling surfaces, and engineering of NP-Protein interactions.
