During\u00a0the May 10th HCM Specialist User Group meeting, we discussed a best practice for reviewing the HCM Assignment\u00a0Cost Allocation Plan\u00a0<\/strong>and HCM Element Cost Allocation Plan<\/strong> reports as part of preparing for the payroll process. These reports allow you to see past and future project expiration dates and thus make costing adjustments in advance of the payroll run.<\/p>\n

The steps to review this information are:<\/p>\n

  1. Open the\u00a0Departmental Playbook<\/b>.<\/li>\n
  2. Run the\u00a0HCM Assignment Cost Allocation Plan<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0HCM Element Cost Allocation Plan<\/b>\u00a0for your Business Unit\/Work Unit. This will provide details for all payments costed at the assignment (regular earnings) and element (supplemental pay) levels.<\/li>\n
  3. Export<\/b>\u00a0the report to Excel.<\/li>\n
  4. Highlight<\/b>\u00a0the details and then unmerge the cells so you will be able to sort.<\/li>\n
  5. Highlight the\u00a0Project End Date\u00a0<\/b>column. Then on the\u00a0Data<\/b>\u00a0tab in Excel, click\u00a0Text to Columns<\/b>\u00a0and then\u00a0Finish<\/b>. This will convert the column values from text to dates that can be easily filtered.<\/li>\n
  6. Sort the report by\u00a0Project End Date<\/b>\u00a0or by\u00a0Person Name<\/b>\u00a0(as needed) and identify any costing of users to expired or expiring projects that requires update prior to payroll run.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
