SPSS Licensing News
Vanderbilt’s SPSS contract has been finalized. The contract includes the following provisions:

Where can the software be installed?
• The software may be installed on computers owned and controlled by Vanderbilt that are located on campus.
• The software may be installed on computers owned by Vanderbilt employees.
• The software may be installed in VUMC hospitals and clinics.
• The software may not be installed on any student home computer or student laptop.
Who can use the software?
• The software may only be used by full or part time Vanderbilt University and VUMC students, faculty, or staff.

What can the software be used for?
• The software may be used by University Central and VUMC for teaching, research, and internal administrative needs.
• The software may not be used for commercial purposes.
We expect to receive version 16 and 17 activation keys that run through 8/30/10 this week. The Software Store will forward the keys to current subscribers as soon as we receive and test them.
SPSS 18 has begun shipping. We expect to receive a copy soon. Version 18 will be a free upgrade for current subscribers.
IBM’s acquisition of SPSS is expected to be completed during October 2009.
Students who need to install SPSS on computers they own may purchase a four year single user PASW Statistics GradPack 18 subscription for $198.95 from Studica.com. The GradPack is available for Mac and Windows and includes:
1. The full version of SPSS Base
2. Two add-on modules, SPSS Regression and SPSS Advanced Statistics
3. Amos (available only on Windows)
4. SPSS manuals on CD, including the SPSS Brief Guide and SPSS User’s Guide
