GeoTrust Enterprise SSL Certificate News

Posted by on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 in Blog.

The Vanderbilt Software Store uses a GeoTrust hosted portal (GeoTrust Center) for fulfilling Enterprise SSL Certificate orders placed by departments. This morning, GeoTrust Center contained the following advisories:

1. GeoCenter will be unavailable between 12:00 noon and 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 9th due to scheduled maintenance. As a result, the Software Store will not be able to fulfill Enterprise SSL certificate orders during this time.
2. Mozilla has announced it will not support MD5 after June 30th, 2011. This means that SSL certificates containing an MD5 signature algorithm will not work in FireFox browsers after June 30th, 2011. See https://knowledge.geotrust.com/support/knowledge-base/index?page=content&id=AD302 for additional information.
3. GeoTrust completed its RapidSSL 2048-bit root upgrade on December 9, 2010. This means that all SSL certificates enrolled after December 9, 2010 will be signed using the upgraded Certificate Authority structure and hierarchy. See https://knowledge.rapidssl.com/support/ssl-certificate-support/index?page=content&id=AD239&actp=LIST&viewlocale=en_US%3E for details.
