Red Hat Enterprise Linux Available through the Vanderbilt Software Store

Posted by on Friday, September 9, 2011 in Blog.

Informatics, MIS and ITS have pooled resources to fund a Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) annual subscription for the Vanderbilt community.  The subscription allows:

  • Departments to install RHEL Server and Workstation on Vanderbilt owned computers for production use
  • Faculty and staff to install RHEL Workstation on an employee owned computer for personal and/or academic use
  • Students to install RHEL Workstation on a student owned computer for personal and/or academic use

Departments, students and employees can place orders for RHEL through the Vanderbilt Software Store (http://its.vanderbilt.edu/softwarestore).  The software is available at no charge to students and employees for use on home computers.

In addition, all of the RHEL products distributed through the Software Store include an activation key customers may use to register their computer with Red Hat Network.  After you register, you will get access to the latest version of the OS whenever you perform a software update.  This will allow you to keep your system up to date with security patches, OS updates, etc.

Please contact the Software Store at software.store@vanderbilt.edu or 3-3919 if you have questions.
