Microsoft Service Provider License Agreement Program
The Software Store has received questions regarding whether or not the university and medical center can use software licensed through Vanderbilt’s Microsoft contracts for commercial purposes.
We have consulted with Microsoft and Microsoft has verified we cannot use our Campus or Select Agreement software for commercial use. Instead, Microsoft requires us to participate in the Microsoft Service Provider License Agreement (SPLA) program.
SPLA allows us to develop applications that use Microsoft software and host the applications for commercial purposes. In addition, SPLA provides a “pay as you go” licensing model that allows service providers to pay for licenses based on monthly usage rates. SPLA permits Vanderbilt to host the commercial applications it develops, or use third party hosting services.
The Software Store is working with Microsoft to enroll Vanderbilt in SPLA so that Vanderbilt may develop and sell applications that interact with Microsoft products.
