GeoTrust Adivsories and Scheduled Service

2. 2048-bit key size enforcement: All GeoTrust Enterprise SSL certificates expiring after December 31, 2013 must have 2048-bit or greater key sizes. After December 31, 2011, 1024-bit keys are only available for one (1) year certificates. After December 31, 2012, GeoTrust will not accept 1024-bit keys for any certificates.

3. Scheduled Service Maintenance: Symantec acquired VeriSign in 2010 and VeriSign acquired GeoTrust in 2006. Symantec is scheduling a site upgrade, database migration, and maintenance for the GeoCenter portal (i.e. the portal the Software Store uses to create SSL certificates for departments) on Saturday, September 29, 2012 from 1PM CT – 2AM CT (13 hours). During this time, the Software Store cannot issue or reissue certificates for customers.
