Posted by on Monday, October 22, 2012 in Blog.

There is a known issue related to running EndNote X6 for Mac under Mountain Lion 10.8.2. The issue causes Cite While You Write to either freeze while formatting, or give you a -1712 time out error. You can get rid of the error by logging off the computer and logging back in. See http://help.thomson.com/default.asp?portalid=TSCINT&article=123873 for more information.

You can also force quit appleeventsd by:

1. Clicking on Go menu and choosing Utilities.
2. Opening Activity Monitor.
3. Locating appleeventsd and clicking on Quit Process.
4. Clicking on Force Quit.

If the issue persists, you may need to perform a clean re-install of Word. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2398768 for instructions on removing Word and http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2435801 for steps on reinstalling the program. After reinstalling Word, restart the computer, launch EndNote and then Word.
