SSL VPN Upgrade

Posted by on Sunday, October 21, 2012 in Blog.

Enterprise Network Security will upgrade the SSL VPN (https://vpn.mc.vanderbilt.edu) on Tuesday, October 23 at 8 PM and completing no later than 12 AM. There will be a 30 minute outage for the SSL VPN at some time during the upgrade window.

Most users will be prompted to upgrade to the latest client the first time they connect to the SSL VPN after the upgrade. Only users with administrative rights can install the upgrade.

Users who do not have administrative rights on their systems should check with their local support provider.

There are installers for Windows, Mac, and Linux systems. Enterprise Network Security tested on Windows 7 64 and 32-bit, Windows XP, and Mac OS X version 10.6.8. Once the installer has run, users will be prompted to download the client when they connect to the upgraded SSL VPN for the first time.

The installers are also available in the Vanderbilt Software Store.

Support providers are encouraged to test the installers in their environments prior to installation or distribution. Support providers can upload the installer any time prior to the upgrade on October 23, if desired.

Enterprise Network Security encourages support teams to enlist users in their organization to test immediately after the change takes place. There will be a bridge set up for testers to report issues during the upgrade. The bridge number will be communicated on Monday, October 22. There will be a maximum of 16 people allowed on the bridge at any one time. If the bridge is at capacity, please try back after a few minutes.
