Centrally Managed Domains Increase 323% in 9 Months
Vanderbilt adopted a new policy for registering, renewing and transferring university and medical center domain names on February 1, 2012. The goal of the policy is to:
• Provide the university and medical center with an efficient domain registration, renewal and transfer process
• Centrally track all domains used by the university and medical center
• Ensure a domain is not tied to an individual person’s credit card or login and the domain will be accessible by Vanderbilt should that person leave or be unavailable
• Ensure Vanderbilt’s trademarks are used properly
• Minimize domain name registration, renewal and transfer costs for the enterprise
Since adopting the new policy, Vanderbilt increased its portfolio of centrally managed domains from 80 to 338 – a 323% increase over the past 9 months.
ITS offers the domain service to the enterprise. The service includes:
• Discounted pricing for domain registrations, renewals and transfers
• No charge web forwarding
• No charge web hosting
• No charge email
• Discounted pricing for Enterprise SSL certificates
