We unpack the state of secondary mathematics today and discuss issues of equity and justice in mathematics education.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>Practicum in Secondary Methods:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right\">Course linked to teacher candidates&#8217; work in schools. In this course, we\u00a0partner with classroom teachers, visit teachers&#8217; classrooms together, work on instructional routines, and begin our work in Video Club.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>Introduction to Mathematical Literacies:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right\">Course for education candidates across disciplines who are interested in examining issues of mathematical literacy in K-12 learning.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Spring<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Building Your Toolkit:\u00a0Planning and Assessment Strategies for Teaching:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right\">Elective course for\u00a0candidates across education degrees who are interested in planning and assessment strategies for teaching. Past students have come from across the SED, ELED, L&amp;D,\u00a0&amp;\u00a0ELL programs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Seminar in Teaching Secondary Mathematics:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right\">Seminar course intended to support\u00a0secondary mathematics teacher candidates in their full-time teaching placements. Our focus\u00a0is on edTPA preparation, Video Club, and partnerships with teachers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>Mathematical Inquiry:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right\">M.Ed. course for Teaching Learning and Urban Studies students in which we examine teaching practice by engaging in mathematics together, Video Club, and student work analyses.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>University Supervisor:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right\">Weekly visits to support secondary mathematics teacher candidates in their teaching placements.
