To quickly recap my lessons learned from my “Be Social!” post, here are my top takeaways from my lessons with Viviana and Jennifer:

  1. Consistency is key
  2. Figure out your key words
  3. Find which social media outlet is best for you
  4. Bring your brand to life!

My personal brand

Using the main takeaways above, here is how I would start to craft my own brand…

  • Writing style is important
  • Classic, relatable, aesthetic
  • Instagram

Something that I notice about a lot of Instagram accounts is that people either know how to write well and connect with an audience, or their posts are choppy, hard to follow, and riddled with grammatical mistakes. I think that my writing abilities would be one of the things that makes me stand out amongst the crowd. I believe that I could draft meaningful Instagram posts that make my followers feel as if they are listening to me tell a story, and that feeling of conversational storytelling will help bring my personal brand to life.

My key words are classic, relatable, and aesthetic. I feel as if it is better to try to be classic than too trendy. Trends are ever-changing and polarizing, but deciding to go with a classic vibe would provide a basic level of comfort that allows a lot of different online users feel that they can look through and relate with my content. This leads me to my next word: relatable. So many Instagram influencers try to convey an unrealistic human ideal, but let’s get real-no one is perfect. So, why should I try to portray that? I feel that honest and relatable content is missing from the Instagram influencer market, so my brand can fill that gap. There is no need to try to be something I am not!

When thinking of crafting my personal brand, I would say that Instagram would be the best outlet for my audience and me. Just think of all of the #famous Instagram bloggers who make a living off of the creation and engagement of their brands. It is accessible, easy-to-use, engaging, and a platform that is completely set up for self-expression via words, videos, and pictures. I also believe that this is the best outlet for me to be consistent and actually achieve one of my key words: aesthetic. I looked through some of the profiles of my favorite lifestyle bloggers, Lonestar Southern and Lauren Conrad. Screenshots of their Instagram feeds are below. Both are incredibly pleasing to the eye, consistent in filter choices, and offer an amazing means for each blogger to give followers an inside look at their interests. I would want my Instagram to look something like the profiles below.
