Undergraduate Award for Research in the Practice of Teaching and Learning

The Undergraduate Award for Research in the Practice of Teaching and Learning is presented annually to a graduating senior in recognition of contributions to research while a student a Peabody College.

2016 Award Recipient: Charity Hope McCracken, from Topeka, Kansas, was a Patterson Scholar, a Runnels Scholar and a Dean’s List scholar.  Charity’s research considered affordances of learning environments to support student reasoning, investigating how students learn about mathematics through videogames. Charity’s essay, Socio-economic Integration: Why, and How?” was published in Urban Advocate in 2015. Charity is currently teaching as a kindergarten teacher in an English-language-learners classroom in Metro Nashville Public Schools. 

 

2015 Recipient: Jackson Elliott Reimers, from Trabuco Cavern, CA, was a 2015 graduate in Engineering Science and Secondary Education with licensure in physics. Jackson has held multiple leadership positions within Beta Upsilon Chi fraternity and has co-authored an article on preparatory standards for engineering teachers. He worked with Dr. Heather Johnson as an undergraduate at Peabody. Jackson teaches Physics and Engineering at Franklin High School
