Meet a USAC Member: Jennifer Woody
What department do you work in and what is your job title?
I work in Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) and my job title is Assistant Director of Stewardship.
How long have you been a Vanderbilt employee?
I have worked at Vanderbilt for 17 years.
How long have you been a part of USAC and how has it impacted you?
I have been a member of USAC for two years. I enjoy relaying the information that I learn at meetings back to my team members. Being a member of USAC gives me a closer connection to the University.
What is the greatest bit of advice a parent or mentor has given you?
Always move forward.
What do you enjoy doing to relieve stress?
I knit and crochet. I like to knit and crochet blankets, dishcloths, and soap sacks to give to friends and family as gifts. I also like to crochet animals as gifts to give to my nephews.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a field reporter for a major news network.
If you could visit any country with no budget, where would you visit?
I would love to go to Denmark. I have ancestral ties to the country and thanks to Ancestry.com, I have connected with distant cousins who still live in the region where our ancestors lived.
What has been your favorite vacation you have ever been on?
Several years ago, my husband and two children took a road trip to New Orleans, then traveled on to Dallas to visit family, and on our way home to Nashville, spent the night in Little Rock with friends. Being able to see several states along with visits with friends and family was a great vacation.
What is your favorite outdoor activity?
I like to sit and observe nature. I have several walnut, hickory, and acorn trees in my backyard, and watching squirrels and birds in my own backyard is a great activity and a great way to wind down after a long day.
If you had an extra hour each day, how would you spend it?
I would spend it reading. I wind down each evening with a book, but often fall asleep while reading! I would love to have extra reading time in a day.
