Representatives from the VCFC Speak at USAC
For the January meeting, USAC welcomed Samantha Barclay, Early Childhood Teacher, and Kathleen Seabolt, Program Director, from the Vanderbilt Child and Family Center. The VCFC provides early childhood care and education through three existing (and one upcoming) facilities dedicated to University staff, faculty and students. They also support — directly and indirectly — the following services:
- Resources for pregnant mothers
- Resources for new parents
- Breastfeeding resources
- Back-up care for children and adults
- Eldercare support
“We want to make sure that all of our employees that are managing aspects of the family-/work-life balance are receiving the support that we provide,” said Seabolt when describing her department’s mission.
A new advisory task force, which includes both Barclay and Seabolt, are looking at the present and future of the VCFC and are also addressing specific topics such as curriculum, tuition and teacher compensation.
