is a Music Performance major with a double major in Human & Organizational Development. Born and raised in a suburb outside Boston, MA, she embraces the opportunity to attend college in Nashville where she is able to wear her cowgirl boots unironically! Prior to coming to Blair, she studied for thirteen years with Andrew Mark, Professor of Cello at the Boston Conservatory, and was a cellist in the Boston Youth Symphony and Benjamin Zander’s Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. Melanie’s love for chamber music emerged from her five summers at Greenwood Music Camp, and grew after summers spent at the Aspen Music Festival and Sarasota Music Festival. As a soloist, she is grateful for the opportunities to perform around the country – in 2022 to 2023, she was a winner of Vanderbilt’s Concerto Competition, the 3rd place winner of MTNA’s Young Artist Competition, and a semifinalist in the Stulberg International String Competition. When Melanie is not playing her cello, she enthusiastically supports the Vanderbilt football and basketball teams as a flyer on the cheerleading team. Go Dores!
