SOUNY PARK

is a 2nd year cello performance major. Prior to coming to Vanderbilt, she studied with Professor Alexander Boyarsky in the junior division of London’s Royal College of Music, where she was principal cellist of the RCMJD Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra. Other teachers include Professor Hyoung Won Chang at the Korea National Institute for Gifted in Arts in South Korea.

In 2018, she became a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, performing in England’s major cities and in the BBC Proms with Nicola Benedetti at the Royal Albert Hall. In 2021, she was a finalist at the Gloucestershire Young Musician of the Year as the youngest candidate and was given the opportunity to play a solo recital at Cheltenham Chapel Arts.

Besides cello, you’ll most likely find her in an art museum, on a walk with her yorkie, or cooking- she’s not very good.. just yet!
