Vanderbilt Divinity School Professor, Amy-Jill Levine, recently released her latest book titled Short Stories By Jesus.

Levine is University Professor of New Testament and Jewish Studies; the E. Rhodes and Leona B. Carpenter Professor of New Testament Studies in the Divinity School; Professor of Jewish Studies; and Professor of New Testament Studies.

The renowned Biblical scholar has authored a number of notable works includingThe Misunderstood Jew: The Church and the Scandal of the Jewish Jesus (HarperOne), the edited collection, The Historical Jesus in Context (Princeton), and the fourteen-volume edited series, Feminist Companions to the New Testament and Early Christian Writings (Continuum). Levine is also a general editor for The Jewish Annotated New Testament.

In Short Stories By Jesus: The Enigmatic Parables of a Controversial Rabbi (HarperOne, 2014), Levine reinterprets Jesus’ narratives by introducing the reader to “problems with parables.” She reveals and analyzes the connections between first-century Jewish and Roman culture and the Gospel scriptures.
