These Fellows will work with Carpenter Program Assistant Director <span style=\"font-style: inherit !important;font-weight: inherit !important\">Lyndsey<\/span> Godwin to design and implement a cohort based, interdisciplinary learning program for the spring of 2021 (the LGBT <span style=\"font-style: inherit !important;font-weight: inherit !important\">Policy<\/span> Cohort). The cohort will be composed of professional and graduate Vanderbilt students and local community members interested in developing skills for impacting LGBT <span style=\"font-style: inherit !important;font-weight: inherit !important\">Policy<\/span> from a faith lens.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-style: inherit !important;font-weight: inherit !important\">Beyond marriage, cakes, and bathrooms, this program will approach \u201cLGBT <span style=\"font-style: inherit !important;font-weight: inherit !important\">Policy<\/span>\u201d with an interdisciplinary, holistic approach that includes an expansive understanding of what counts as <span style=\"font-style: inherit !important;font-weight: inherit !important\">policy<\/span>, how <span style=\"font-style: inherit !important;font-weight: inherit !important\">policy\u00a0<\/span>change might be organized, and the role of faith and religion in shaping and shifting <span style=\"font-style: inherit !important;font-weight: inherit !important\">policy<\/span> now and in the future. The<\/span>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwilliamsinstitute.law.ucla.edu%2Flgbtdivide%2F%23%2Fethnicity&amp;data=02%7C01%7Csophia.agtarap%40vanderbilt.edu%7Cd32db1a7a877451f2da008d8567e8ca2%7Cba5a7f39e3be4ab3b45067fa80faecad%7C0%7C0%7C637354448839696320&amp;sdata=dJQKHBv1UeaYbmIFUyJ6HBpq7ook9J14nTRhxszWs%2BA%3D&amp;reserved=0\">Southeast US is home to the largest percentage of the LGBTQIA+ community<\/a>\u00a0<span style=\"font-style: inherit !important;font-weight: inherit !important\">in the country, and while many might narrowly limit LGBT issues to questions of family and gender assimilation, we know that the oppressive systems of racism, sexism, heterosexism, transphobia, classism, Christian exceptionalism, and xenophobia work together to impact the lives of LGBTQIA+ folks in and across all aspects of life. Access to health care and housing; mass incarceration and detention; police violence, education, immigration and \u00ad\u00ad\u00ad\u00admore are all LGBT <span style=\"font-style: inherit !important;font-weight: inherit !important\">Policy<\/span> issues.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Compensation:<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0Each Fellow will receive a stipend of $3000 per semester. This stipend cannot be added on top of any stipend a student is already receiving from VDS.
