AWE provides holistic services to help individuals heal from trauma and rebuild their lives in Baltimore. Participants will assist with facilities work, engage with asylum seekers, and support refugees as they settle into the community. This experience also offers educational insights into the challenges refugees face in the U.S., fostering a deeper understanding and empathy for their journeys.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Site Leaders:<\/strong> Callie Tuck and Terra Lee<\/p>\n<p><strong>Site Cost: <\/strong>$335<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>WELCOME, THIS IS A FARMHOUSE<br \/>\nFort Collins, CO<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>About:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Harvest Farm<\/strong>, a branch of the Denver Rescue Mission, is a faith-based rehabilitation program for men <strong>recovering from addiction<\/strong>. Located 40 miles north of Denver, it combines physical farm work with addiction education classes. At this site, participants will:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Engage in daily farm life<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Participating in hands-on tasks\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sharing meals and attending classes with the residents<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This unique experience offers the chance to serve while connecting with individuals on their path to recovery, all set against the backdrop of the Rocky Mountains.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Site Leaders:<\/strong> Kui Gay and Rishabh Sen<\/p>\n<p><strong>Site Cost:\u00a0<\/strong>$400<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>COUNTING STARS<br \/>\nCorpus Christi, TX<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>About:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">At the <strong>Padre Island National Seashore<\/strong>, participants will work with the National Park Service to preserve this <strong>vital ecosystem<\/strong>, home to <strong>sea turtles and 380 bird species<\/strong>. The primary project will involve:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Building a corral to protect endangered sea turtle nests from threats like human interference and predators;\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Cleaning a sea turtle lab and help remove trash from the beach;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Camping on-site to experience the natural beauty of the area while contributing to its conservation (weather permitting).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Site Leaders:<\/strong> Ashley Fu and Grecia Ayala<\/p>\n<p><strong>Site Cost:\u00a0<\/strong>$375<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>GIVE A LITTLE BIT<br \/>\nAtlanta, GA<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>About:<\/strong> Georgia ranks amongst the bottom quartile for <strong>access to healthcare<\/strong> and healthcare quality in the United States. Diseases like HIV, heart disease, and diabetes afflict Atlanta, GA\u2019s poorest populations. In Atlanta, we\u2019ll gain hands-on experience working with organizations that emphasize community health like the <strong>Empowerment Resource Center and MEDShare International<\/strong>. Furthermore, we\u2019ll speak with representatives at the Emory Rollins School of Public Health and Centers for Disease Control while touring their facilities to learn about <strong>healthcare in public service<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Site Leaders:<\/strong> Gabe Maldonado and Daniel Li<\/p>\n<p><strong>Site Cost:<\/strong>\u00a0$360<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>DELTA DAWN<br \/>\nLake Maurepas Wetlands, LA<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>About<\/strong><strong>:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">At this site, participants will join <\/span><b>Further Along, Inc.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> in:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Hands-on wetlands restoration;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Helping plant thousands of cypress trees and native plants;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Bringing life back to the Louisiana swamps;\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Participating in lighter service projects with local nonprofits;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Experiencing he food, music, and culture that make Southeast Louisiana so unique.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It\u2019s a chance to make a real environmental impact while also diving into the rich spirit of the region.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Site Leaders:\u00a0<\/strong>Elizabeth Grimm and Alison Westerbeek<\/p>\n<p><strong>Site Cost:\u00a0<\/strong>$450<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>LOOK THROUGH MY EYES<br \/>\nHohenwald, TN<\/h2>\n<p><strong>About: <\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">At <strong>The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee<\/strong>, participants will volunteer at a refuge dedicated to rescuing elephants from circuses, zoos, and other entertainment industries.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Spanning over 2,700 acres, the Sanctuary provides a <strong>safe, natural habitat<\/strong> for elephants to live peacefully. Volunteers will work on projects such as <strong>landscaping, painting, and creating enrichment devices<\/strong> for the elephants&#8217; environment.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Note: While direct interaction with the elephants is not permitted, participants may have the opportunity to see them during their time at the Sanctuary.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Site Leaders: <\/strong>Jillian Zhu and Kamson Dong<\/p>\n<p><strong>Site Cost:\u00a0<\/strong>$310<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>SUNRISE<br \/>\nTahlequah, OK<\/h2>\n<p><strong>About: <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">At this site, participants will work with <strong>Cherokee Elder Care<\/strong>, an organization dedicated to helping <strong>elderly Native Americans<\/strong> remain in their homes during their later years. Participants will engage in home visits, assist elderly Cherokee community members, and lead activities for them. They will also <strong>explore Cherokee history<\/strong> at the local cultural center, gaining a deeper understanding of the modern Cherokee experience and the important work of Cherokee Elder Care.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Site Leaders:\u00a0<\/strong>Nadia Gaal and Akshara Senthil<\/p>\n<p><strong>Site Cost:\u00a0<\/strong>$345<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>ONE DAY<br \/>\nChicago, IL<\/h2>\n<p><strong>About:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">At this site, participants will work with <strong>Holocaust Community Services (HCS)<\/strong> in Chicago, supporting Holocaust survivors through art therapy, helping them share their stories, and <strong>creating an art exhibit for Shabbat<\/strong>. Participants will also partner with EZRA to assist with:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">ESL classes and organize the food pantry,\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">helping prevent homelessness and isolation in the Jewish community.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This site emphasizes the<strong> power of creative work in overcoming language barriers<\/strong>, especially for survivors who immigrated from the former Soviet Union.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Site Leaders:\u00a0<\/strong>TBA<\/p>\n<p><strong>Site Cost:\u00a0<\/strong>$320<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>LIFE IN COLOR<br \/>\nAustin, TX<\/h2>\n<p><strong>About: <\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">At this site, participants will explore the <strong>power of art<\/strong> as a tool for self-expression for individuals with disabilities. They will volunteer with <strong>Imagine Art, a free fine arts studio<\/strong> that supports artists with disabilities, and Arc of the Capital Area, which offers classes, studio space, and art shows for adults with disabilities. Participants will assist with art classes and may help staff an art show fundraiser. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Through this experience, they\u2019ll gain insight into the transformative impact of inclusive art on <strong>creativity, self-worth, and independence.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Site Leaders: <\/strong>Jasmine Ferrier and Jonathan Lee<\/p>\n<p><strong>Site Cost:\u00a0<\/strong>$315<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>LEAN ON ME<br \/>\nTalladega, AL<\/h2>\n<p><strong>About:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">At this site, participants will volunteer at the <strong>MGH Special Equestrians Arena<\/strong>, which provides <strong>therapeutic horse-riding programs<\/strong> for students at the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind (AIDB). Participants will assist with:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">horse care,<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">barn maintenance, and\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">mentor children with sensory impairments in riding classes.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Through this experience, they will learn about the i<strong>mpact of equine therapy<\/strong> on physical and emotional well-being, improving <strong>motor skills, communication, and self-esteem for children with disabilities.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Site Leaders:\u00a0<\/strong>Sarah Patel and Riya Patel<\/p>\n<p><strong>Site Cost:\u00a0<\/strong>$310<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>HERE COMES THE SUN<br \/>\nGreen Cove Springs, FL<\/h2>\n<p><strong>About: <\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">t this site, participants will dive into service with <strong>Challenge Enterprises of North Florida<\/strong>, working alongside <strong>adults with disabilities<\/strong> as they build skills and confidence for meaningful employment. Students will also take part in the hustle and energy of Clay County\u2019s only Food Bank\u2014<strong>sorting, packing, and distributing food to families in need.<\/strong> It\u2019s a week of connection, impact, and learning that brings together disability empowerment and food equity in a hands-on way.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Site Leaders:\u00a0<\/strong>Elizabeth Han and Justin He<\/p>\n<p><strong>Site Cost:\u00a0<\/strong>$310<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>MR. BLUE SKY<br \/>\nRock Hill, SC<\/h2>\n<p><strong>About: <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">At this site, participants will work with the <strong>Catawba Cultural Preservation Project<\/strong>, which focuses on preserving the culture and heritage of the Catawba Indian Nation. Participants will engage in various tasks, such as <strong>beautifying the Yehasuri Trail, planting indigenous trees, maintaining buildings, and working with elders and tribal youth<\/strong>.
