{"id":2501,"date":"2021-01-22T17:56:33","date_gmt":"2021-01-22T22:56:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/my.vanderbilt.edu\/vinsenews\/?p=2501"},"modified":"2021-12-08T17:32:20","modified_gmt":"2021-12-08T22:32:20","slug":"alyssa-livingood-vinse-nsf-reu-19-first-author-on-acs-photonics-article","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/my.vanderbilt.edu\/vinsenews\/2021\/01\/alyssa-livingood-vinse-nsf-reu-19-first-author-on-acs-photonics-article\/","title":{"rendered":"Alyssa Livingood (VINSE NSF REU &#8217;19) first author on ACS Photonics article"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Congratulations Alyssa Livingood, NSF REU fellow 2019, on being FIRST AUTHOR on a published paper in ACS Photonics!\u00a0 Being a first author on a paper is a major accomplishment and we at VINSE are very proud of Alyssa&#8217;s accomplishment.\u00a0\u00a0Alyssa is currently studying to receive her B.S. in Computer Engineering at the University of Kentucky.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cdn.vanderbilt.edu\/t2-my\/my-prd\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1669\/2021\/01\/acsphotonics.0c01432.pdf\">&#8220;Filterless Nondispersive Infrared Sensing using Narrowband Infrared Emitting Metamaterials&#8221;<\/a> was published from the Caldwell lab.<\/p>\n<p>The project focused on demonstrating the use of cadmium oxide films for a narrowband, normal incidence nanophotonic IR emitting metamaterial (NIREM).\u00a0 Through a collaboration with Third Floor Materials, it was demonstrated that the radiation pattern could be changed by growing on a patterned sapphire substrate, while enabling a narrow bandwidth.
