VUIT Scheduled Maintenance to Install Windows OS patches on AVST voicemail servers

Posted by on Thursday, May 19, 2016 in Outage.

Vanderbilt IT will install Microsoft Windows 2008 operating system patches on AVST voicemail servers from midnight to 3 a.m. on Sunday, May 22, in order to maintain security of the Microsoft Windows OS for the AVST voicemail servers.

The restart of the CallXpress service on the system server (VUIT-HCWNAP130) will cause the following during a 25- to 35-minute outage:

1) Outside callers will receive a prompt that their messages may be delayed because of system maintenance.

2) Users will not be able to log into their voicemail mailboxes.

3) Out-call notifications will be delayed for messages so marked.

VUIT will update and reboot the other three CallXpress servers separately, which will not cause additional downtime.

Skype for Business (Lync) voicemail will not be affected by this maintenance.
