Adobe Acrobat Options

Vanderbilt University Medical Center departments have several options for licensing Adobe Acrobat.
- Adobe offers Adobe Acrobat Reader DC for both Windows and Mac as a free download. You can use Acrobat Reader to open, read, print, sign, and annotate PDF files.
- VUMC departments may purchase perpetual licenses (with or without maintenance) for Adobe Acrobat Standard DC and Adobe Acrobat Pro DC through the VUMC Software Store. If you purchase maintenance, you may upgrade for $0 to new versions that Adobe releases during the maintenance term.
Feature | Acrobat Standard DC | Acrobat Pro DC |
Create PDFs and export to Word, Excel, or PowerPoint | X | X |
Edit text and images in your PDF | X | X |
Create, fill, sign and send forms | X | X |
Compare two versions of a PDF to review all differences | X | |
Turn scanned documents into editable, searchable PDFs | X |
- Customers may purchase annual subscriptions for Adobe Acrobat DC (Standard and Pro editions) through the VUMC Software Store. Subscriptions expire on April 30 each year. Pricing is pro-rated monthly. Maintenance is included.
Note: Departments may contact vumc.softwarestore@vanderbilt.edu to ask us to reassign a seat as often as needed. This is useful for teams of users who would like to share a subscription. Power users may wish to have their own subscription, but most people are not power users.
- Departments may also use Microsoft Word to create and edit PDFs. Word is a component of Microsoft Office. We offer Office for $0 through the VUMC Software Store.
In addition, the VUMC Software Store is researching licensing options for Nitro Pro. Nitro is an alternative PDF solution.
