Computer Services

The VVRC Computer Support Module facilitates all aspects of computer based research by VVRC members, including software development, hardware purchase, setup, backup and maintenance.

The programmer develops software for the presentation of visual and audio stimuli, data analysis, the collection of vocal and manual response data from human interface devices, and the synchronization and communication with external hardware such as that for optical imaging, eye tracking, and fMRI scanning. Programming languages used are MATLAB (in particular with the Psychtoolbox for OSX and Windows), C/C++, Perl, Python and Visual Basic. The programmer may also assist with electronics and custom circuits for visual event detection, trigger pulse control.

The system administrator provides system administration support for a variety of platforms. They also provide hardware and software support including computer repair, upgrades, and network support.
