Malin\" href=\"http:\/\/hiplab.mc.vanderbilt.edu\/people\/malin\/\">Bradley A. Malin<\/a>, and is currently working\u00a0in the <a title=\"Health Information Privacy Laboratory\" href=\"http:\/\/hiplab.mc.vanderbilt.edu\/\">Health Information Privacy Laboratory (HIPLAB)<\/a>, and\u00a0the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vumc.org\/getprecise\/\" target=\"_blank\">Center for Genetic Privacy and Identity in Community Settings (GetPreCiSe)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The goal of the HIPLAB is to improve the protection of patients&#8217; privacy in health information systems.&#8221; said Dr. Bradley A. Malin. As part of the <a title=\"electronic MEdical Records and GEnomics network\" href=\"https:\/\/emerge-network.org\">eMERGE network<\/a>, HIPLAB is working to design\u00a0de-identification methodologies that mitigate re-identification threats while maximizing the utility of the data shared for research purposes.<\/p>\n<p>He finished his PhD in Computer Science at the <a title=\"Department of EECS\" href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20220423103934\/https:\/\/engineering.vanderbilt.edu\/eecs\/\">Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science<\/a>, <a title=\"School of Engineering\" href=\"http:\/\/engineering.vanderbilt.edu\/\">School of Engineering<\/a>,\u00a0<a title=\"Vanderbilt University\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vanderbilt.edu\">Vanderbilt University<\/a>. He obtained his bachelor&#8217;s degree in Automation (minor in Business Administration), as an outstanding graduate, from <a title=\"Xi'an Jiaotong University\" href=\"http:\/\/en.xjtu.edu.cn\/\">Xi&#8217;an Jiaotong University<\/a>, which he entered through the <a title=\"Special Class for the Gifted Young\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Special_Class_for_the_Gifted_Young\">Special Class for the Gifted Young of China<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>His research interests include: optimizing privacy-preserving data sharing, with an emphasis on health and genomic data; leveraging game theory, artificial intelligence, and machine learning techniques to improve social good; and analyzing social networks and network security.
