Campus Invited to Course Management System Vendor Demos in April
Posted by Derek Bruff on Monday, April 11, 2016 in News.
The Center for Teaching invites Vanderbilt faculty, staff, and students to a series of product demonstrations by the three vendors under consideration for Vanderbilt’s next course management system (CMS). The demonstrations, along with feedback from those who attend them, will inform Vanderbilt’s decision to renew its contract with Blackboard, set to expire in 2017, or to move to another CMS better suited to supporting teaching and learning at Vanderbilt.
The three vendors under consideration are the largest commercial CMS vendors by market share: Blackboard, Instructure (which makes Canvas), and D2L (which makes Brightspace). Each vendor will provide two public demonstrations while its team is on campus, so that more members of the campus community can attend. Each demo will consist of a 50-minute presentation by the vendor, followed by a 30-minute question-and-answer session. See below for the full schedule.
D2L (Brightspace):
Monday, April 18th
Law 040 (Flynn Auditorium)
3:10 to 4:00 (demo), 4:00 to 4:30 (Q&A)
Tuesday, April 19th
Law 105 (Alexander Room)
11:10 to 12:00 (demo), 12:00 to 12:30 (Q&A)
Instructure (Canvas):

3:10 to 4:00 (demo), 4:00 to 4:30 (Q&A)
Wednesday, April 27th

11:10 to 12:00 (demo), 12:00 to 12:30 (Q&A)
Blackboard:
Thursday, April 28th
