Organize a Minisymposium

We encourage participants of the conference, particularly our more senior colleagues, to consider organizing a minisymposium on a subject of current interest relevant to the conference. The anticipated time of most talks at these minisymposia will be 20 minutes, with 10 minutes for questions and transition after. A minisymposium should consist of at least four speakers and at most sixteen speakers. Minisymposia organizers are encouraged to:

  • Include some students and early career mathematicians among their speakers and to ensure diversity of speakers as much as possible
  • Include a 20 or 45 minute introductory talk about the topic of the minisymposium, aimed towards students and early career mathematicians
  • Include an open problem session, with problems meant to be understandable by students and to make the area attractive to them.

To propose a minisymposium: please , with the following in an attached Latex document, using this template:

  • Copy the template listed below in a file names ConstructiveFunctionsMinisymposium.tex.
  • Fill in the requested information: Names, affiliations, and emails of the proposed organizers and proposed speakers, title and content of the proposed minisymposium (including if an introductory talk or open problem session is intended)
  • Send the resulting tex and PDF files in an email with the subject line “Minisymposium Proposal, (your name)” to the organizers at ConstructiveFunctions2025@gmail.com by December 6, 2024.

The organizers will accept minisymposia proposals until December 6, 2024, and you will receive a response by December 20, 2024 at the latest. If your proposal is accepted, your speakers will have until March 14, 2025 to submit the abstracts for their talks and register for the conference. Note that organizers do not need to speak at their minisymposium, but may if they so choose. Moreover, organizers are expected to chair any sessions of their minisymposium.

You do not need your potential speakers to confirm their participation before submitting your proposal. If some of your intended speakers opt not to attend the conference, you may replace them with different speakers. However, if there are any changes to your list of intended speakers, you should send an updated list to the organizers at ConstructiveFunctions2025@gmail.com no later than March 14, 2025.
