Shooting for Survival in the Amazon Film and Reception

Join us at the Sarratt Gallery for a catered reception celebrating the Kayapó photography, jewelry, and art exhibit!  Wine and appetizers will be served. After, we will move to the Jean and Alexander Heard Library, where Kayapó filmmakers will screen their films and host a Q and A session with a translator. Don’t miss this opportunity to engage directly with visiting members of the Kayapó, an indigenous community from the Amazon well-known for its defense of the rain forest and preservation of its culture.
Free and open to the public. Film showing starts at 6:00 pm

Kayapó Photograph, jewelry and film clips are on display all month at the Sarratt Gallery. Come and visit to experience life in the Amazon through the eyes of the Kayapó. Admission is free.

Teacher Workshop: Environment, Culture, and Survival in the Brazilian Amazon Rainforest

Join Kayapó Filmmakers and anthropologist Glenn Shepard for a showing of Kayapó films and a discussion of Kayapó culture, place within the social and political landscape of contemporary Brazil, and their rain forest conservation.

Public Lecture by Dr. Faye Ginsburg
March 27th, 6:00 – 7:00 pm Jean and Alexander Heard Library Community Room

Dr. Faye Ginsburg is the Director of the Center for Media, Culture, and History at NYU where she is also David B. Kriser Professor of Anthropology. She will be presenting a public lecture on indigenous engagement with new media.
