Currently, the only effective option for adjusting a hyperinsulinemic clamp is to adjust on the fly based on the physician’s clinical judgment. Some people claim that an algorithmic approach works, but no one has been able to get it to work well based on our client’s knowledge.

We propose an algorithm on a device that regulates the infusion rate of glucose. We aim to draw upon an existing Excel algorithm and implement it to a MATLAB code that allows us to standardize the algorithm and make it more controlled. This will allow us to make available a unique product to a market that is currently utilizing obsolete methods. We will implement machine learning mechanisms so as to improve the algorithm with each subsequent study.

The overall purpose of our project is to develop an algorithm on a device that regulates the infusion rate of glucose. This goal falls into two main objectives: measure insulin sensitivity and measure insulin secretion via hyperglycemic clamp in a controlled manner.
