Sarah Kabourek is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Department of Leadership, Policy, and Organizations at Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College. Her research focuses on public preschool and kindergarten policy, access, and finance. Additionally she conducts quantitative and qualitative work in the areas of school finance and court reform, equality of educational opportunity, and policy evaluation.

Prior to beginning at Peabody in 2014, she worked as a special education teacher in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. She taught students in grades K-8 in inclusion and resource settings. She served as compliance facilitator for her K-8 school, overseeing the development and implementation of student IEPs. Sarah came to Charlotte after serving a Princeton Project 55 Fellowship with the Campaign for Educational Equity in New York City. In that capacity she conducted research on school finance and equity.

Sarah holds a bachelor’s degree from Princeton University, where she studied English Literature.
