The STORM Lab at DDW 2017

Chicago, IL (May 7-9, 2017)—Members of the STORM lab attended Digestive Disease Week 2017, the largest international gathering of physicians, researchers and academics in the fields of gastroenterology, hepatology, endoscopy and gastrointestinal surgery. During the conference, our team gave two poster presentations.
Nicolò Garbin and Dennis C. Sohn presented the abstract: “Evaluation of a Novel Disposable Upper Endoscope for Unsedated Bedside (Non-Endoscopy Unit Based) Assessment of the Upper Gastrointestinal (UGI) Tract” by Nicolò Garbin, Shabnam Sarker, Dennis C. Sohn, Piotr R. Slawinski, Pietro Valdastri, Keith L. Obstein. EurekAlert included this presentation in their ASGE highlighted sessions at Digestive Disease Week.
Shabnam Sarker, Piotr R. Slawinski, and Addisu Z. Taddese presented the abstract: “The First Autonomously Controlled Capsule Robot for Colon Exploration” by Shabnam Sarker, Piotr R. Slawinski, Addisu Z. Taddese, Kyle B. Musto, Pietro Valdastri, Keith L. Obstein. This abstract was selected for a press release by DDW and was also featured by several media outlets including EurekAlert, Daily Mail and Medpage Today. Two of the authors, Piotr R. Slawinski and Keith L. Obstein were interviewed by DDW TV, DDW’s on-site conference television channel.
