This RAFT activity is a writing activity for students where they can control the text type and the topic. It would be appropriate for elementary school students in social studies while studying the explorers. It could be used in addition to the Choice Board. It would also be useful for ESOL classes or Spanish students ranging from the novice high to intermediate-low proficiency level based on the choices. It is a performance-based task.
Students will choose one box from each column (Role, Audience, Format and Topic), complete the task and then reflect on their rationale for each selection.
