Test Format

We want this competition to provide an outside-of-school opportunity to do interesting math problems and introduce high school students to some types of math that they may not have seen before. There will be two components to the exam and all competitors are invited to take both components. For the first section, students will choose 2 long-response questions to work on from 6 provided. They will have one hour to complete this section. For the second section, students will have 75 minutes to solve 25 short answer questions, some that are likely in familiar topics like algebra and geometry, and others that will introduce a concept in the statement of the question.

There will also be a group “candy bar competition” which will encourage collaboration between teammates; scores on the group test will not count towards the individual competition scores, but the winning team will receive candy bars!
