Microsoft DreamSpark Subscription Saves Vanderbilt over $260,000 during First Year

ITS recently renewed a Microsoft DreamSpark Standard subscription (https://www.dreamspark.com/institution/subscription.aspx) for the campus community. Benefits include:

• Campus-wide access by students, faculty, and IT staff
• Free access to Windows Server, Visual Studio Professional, Expression, Windows Embedded, and SQL Server
• Academic and non-commercial use rights
• Authorization to develop Windows, Windows Phone apps, and games to publish on Microsoft app stores where students get free access

The campus community can download the DreamSpark products through the Vanderbilt Software Store. Since the Store began offering these products last April, faculty, staff and students placed 690 orders and Vanderbilt saved over $260,000 in software licensing costs.
