Zeiss LSM780 Multi-Photon

Why Use This Microscope?
The Zeiss LSM780 is a state of the art confocal microscope. In addition to routine single-photon confocal imaging, it is equipped with a Coherent Chameleon multi-photon laser for deeper sample penetration, detection of dimmer fluorophores, and reduced photodamage. It is also equipped with a Definite Focus module to eliminate thermal drift or focal offset in the Z-dimension.

This microscope is well suited for confocal fluorescent imaging of cells and tissues, viewing samples in culture dishes, culture plates (6 wells and greater), chamber slides that can be inverted and a variety of custom made (by user) chambers no larger than a standard culture plate. Imaging through plastic dishes is limited to 5x, 10x and 20x lens. Higher magnification must be through coverslips on slides or MatTek-type culture dishes. All slides must be sealed, clean and dry prior to placing on the stage.

Imaging Modes:

  • Multi-photon imaging
  • Laser scanning fluorescence and DIC (Nomarski)
  • 3-D “Z-series”
  • Time-series
  • Tile scans (mosaics)
  • Co-localization, FRET, FRAP, linear unmixing
  • FCS, RICS

FLUORESCENCE EXCITATION/EMISSION:

  • 458, 488, 514nm Blue/Green for blue, green, yellow dyes, e.g., CFP,YFP,GFP, Cy2, FITC-like dyes
  • 561 nm Green/Red for Cy3, m-Cherry, or rhodamine-like dyes
  • 633 nm Red/Far-Red nm for far-red dyes like Cy5, TO-PRO, Alexa647
  • Coherent Chameleon 2-photon laser with tunable range 690-1040
  • Emission bandwidth for all dyes/laser lines is continuously variable providing huge flexibility for collecting images of unusual dyes and for minimizing bleed-through between colors.

Objective Lenses:

  • 5x /.25 Fluor
  • 10x / 0.50 Fluar DIC II
  • 20x / 0.80 Plan-Apochromat DIC II
  • 40x / 1.10 LD C-Apochromat WATER
  • 40x/1.30 Fluar Oil
  • 63x / 1.40 Plan-APOCHROMAT OIL DIC

Charges: $61.00 per hour
