Workshop on Nil Phenomena in Topology, April 14 & 15, 2007

 

The Workshop on Nil Phenomena in Topology will focus on several topics in the theory of surgery and manifold theory, such as splitting homotopy equivalences between manifolds, controlled topology and Bass’s Nil groups, calculation of Waldhausen’s Nil groups, calculation of Cappell’s UNil groups, the isomorphism conjectures, decomposition of Waldhausen’s A-theory, supersimple L-theory. It will be held in SC 4309. The workshop is supported by NSF and the Shanks Endowment of the Department of Mathematics. For more details click here.

ECOAS 03: The First East Coast Operator Algebras Symposium

Dietmar Bisch founded the East Coast Operator Algebras Symposium
(ECOAS), a new yearly conference series in operator
algebras and applications which will be held during the fall semester
at various venues along the generalized
east coast. The first meeting in this series took place at Vanderbilt
University on Saturday, September 20 and Sunday, September 21, 2003.

The Clay Mathematics Institute international conference and spring school on Noncommutative Geometry and Applications in conjunction with the 18th Annual Shanks Lecture
