Supplemental Studies

Overview

As a federally-funded national center of research and development, NCPI conducts a series of supplemental research initiatives to enhance the scholarly and practical knowledge on performance incentives in education. Our current projects include research to advance understanding and use of value-added measurement, research on teacher retirement benefits, and more.

In the summer of 2006, NCPI’s interdisciplinary research team was awarded a three-year contract to undertake a broad-based, multi-year study of the effect of the Governor’s Educator Excellence Award Program: Governor’s Educator Excellence Grant (GEEG). Our researchers are evaluating the program’s impact on both students and teachers, including measures of student achievement and teacher retention and mobility. We are also studying changes in teacher behaviors and schools’ organizational dynamics as the incentive program matures.”
