Healthy Lifestyle Series at the Rec
Open to Vanderbilt University Students

September 26 – October 10, 2018
5:30 –6:30 p.m.
Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center Teaching Kitchen
Seeking ways to boost grades, stay focused in class, and have energy to balance a busy schedule? Join Marilyn Holmes, Registered Dietitian, and Mary Wolk, Certified Personal Trainer, as they lead an interactive and fun three-part series on maintaining a healthy lifestyle at Vanderbilt University. This series will be held each Wednesday beginning September 26 – October 10 from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. at the Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center.

Vanderbilt University students are invited to register for all, or even just one of the sessions.  Space is limited to 14 people per class, so register now at http://bit.ly/RecFreshStart.

September 26 – Appropriate Exercise

Get the “low down” on various types of exercises, how to combine different forms of exercise for maximum benefit, and tips on how to exercise safety.

October 3 – Dorm Dinners

Learn how to create healthy dorm dinners that can be easily replicated in your dorm with this “hands on” demonstration.  Attendees will receive recipes cards for the foods prepared (complete with nutrition analysis) and samples of the foods prepared.

October 10 – Grab-Go-Snacks

Since about one-third of our daily foods are eaten at snack time, let’s make them count. Learn how to select and prepare quick and healthy snacks for boosting and maintaining energy. Taste your creations or take to have later.


Marilyn Holmes has more than forty (40) years of experience as a Registered Dietitian and in population health management. Currently, she is an Associate Director with the Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center. Mary Wolk, is a Certified Personal Trainer, with over twenty (20) years of experience in the fitness and wellness profession. Currently, she is an Assistant Director with the Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center.
