Amanda KingWhat department do you work in and what is your job title?

I work in the Graduate School and the University Registrar’s office as the Manager of Graduate Student Records.

How long have you been a Vanderbilt employee?

I have been a Vanderbilt employee for nine years. I worked with the Biomedical Engineering graduate program before joining the Graduate School in 2018.

What is one important skill every person should have?

An important skill every person should have is recognizing and setting boundaries.

What do you enjoy doing to relieve stress?

I enjoy staying active and being outside. Whether it is yardwork, walking my dog, yoga, dancing, strength training, or hiking, staying active and being in nature boost my mood and help to relieve stress.

If you could visit any country with no budget, where would you visit?

England

What is your favorite type of music?

Folk- rock

What are you most proud of in your life thus far?

I am most proud to be Noah, Lily, and Simon’s mom. I’ve learned so much watching them grow into kind, smart, and courageous humans.

Name two things you consider yourself to be good at?

I consider myself good at being flexible and patient when things do not go according to plan. I’m also pretty good at strategically packing the car for road trips.

What has been your favorite vacation you have ever been on?

My favorite vacations are the ones we get to spend at Edisto beach with the rest of my family from South Carolina.

What is something on your bucket list?

Seeing the Northern Lights.

What skill or talent would you most like to learn?

I would love to learn how to tailor clothes and sew, in general.
